Arizona Public Lands Day Cleanup at Camp Creek Wash

In celebration of Arizona Public Lands Day and to kick off Earth Month, we teamed up with our friends from Arizona Adventure Group to help the Tonto National Forest - Cave Creek District with a trash cleanup at Camp Creek Wash.

Volunteers helped us remove 2,940 pounds of trash & debris, that’s 1.47 tons of trash removed!

This cleanup was different; instead of picking up trash left behind by careless people, we were picking up debris from a monsoon flood last year that heavily damaged residences. The flood pushed debris from inside the residences, tore siding off, ripped windows out and scattered debris throughout the stream corridor.

We removed a refrigerator, large pieces of house siding, couches, bed frames, foam mattresses, window frames, part of a washing machine, a flower pot, garden decorations, wiring, conduit, a ladder, bedding, clothing, lamps, and so much more! We had the opportunity to meet several of the residents & they were extremely thankful for our help. It meant a lot to our group to be able to help them with clearing debris from the stream corridor. To see the power of the flood that push mattresses and other debris 6+ feet up in the trees was incredible.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered with us and made a huge impact at Camp Creek Wash! Thank you to Monique & Edgar from Arizona Adventure Group for teaming up with us again, it's always so much fun! We also had the opportunity to meeting Dani from Make It Count 4 Dani and Jhae from One Auto Movement in person. It was so much fun to meet both of you! You cannot help but have a good time when you are surrounded by so many amazing people who want to give back and make the planet a better place.

Thank you so much to Jordan Bohlen & everyone from the U.S. Forest Service Tonto National Forest - Cave Creek Ranger District who came out to help! We're grateful for all of their help hauling trash to their trucks and the dumpster.
