National PUblic Lands Day Lower Salt River Cleanup

For National Public Lands Day, we hosted our annual National Public Lands Day Lower Salt River Cleanup with REI Co-op at Phon D Sutton Recreation Area. 247 volunteers, including 29 youth volunteers, & our Dedicated Restoration Team helped us remove 960 pounds of trash. This was also our 90th volunteer event!

Established in 1994, National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort. It celebrates the connection between people & green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, & encourages use of open space for education, recreation, & general health.

This event was financed in part by a grant from REI, we are grateful to everyone at REI for their continued support of our mission and our Restoration Projects across Arizona. Thank you to everyone at U.S. Forest Service Tonto National Forest - Mesa Ranger District for their support of this event!

Thank you Redline Rental & Sales for providing free kayak & SUP rentals to volunteers! Thank you Riverbound Sports for all of your help! Thank you to everyone from The AZHikeaholics teaming up with us! Thank you to NEEF for providing coupons for a fee-free day on participating public lands for volunteers! Thank you to Clifbar for donating Clif Thins!

We know volunteers don’t attend our events for prizes, but it’s a nice way to help show them how much local organizations and the community appreciates their hard work.

Thank you to REI Co-op for donating raffle prizes!

We also had natural restorations t-shirts, hats, and tru flasks in the raffle.
