The day after Thanksgiving, we hosted our 6th annual Green Friday Cleanup with REI Co-op along the Lower Salt River. 190 volunteers, including 25 youth volunteers, helped us remove 500 pounds of trash.

Green Friday is our way of thinking differently about the day after Thanksgiving; it’s a chance to celebrate the connection between people & outdoor spaces in their community, inspire environmental stewardship, & encourage use of outdoor spaces for education, recreation, & general health.

This event was financed in part by a donation from REI. We are grateful to everyone at the Chandler REI and their Goodyear Distribution Center for their continued support of our mission and our Restoration Projects across Arizona.

In addition to REI, we would also like to thank the following organizations for their support of this event: American Rivers, AVNET, AZ 4Runner Outsiders, Arizona Toy Pros, Battle Born Offroad, Desert Monsters Tours, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, Illuminated Funds Group, Nitro Gear & Axle, the OdySea Aquarium Foundation, Salt River Project, State 48 Overland, Stellar Adventures, Tru Flask, Victory 4x4, and Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative.

Thank you to everyone at U.S. Forest Service Tonto National Forest for their support of this event! Thank you to Salty Scuba Squad & The River Rangers for coming out to help! Thank you to Burt Morin for helping with photographs!

WE KNOW VOLUNTEERS DON’T ATTEND OUR EVENTS FOR PRIZES, BUT IT’S A NICE WAY TO HELP SHOW THEM HOW MUCH ORGANIZATIONS AND THE COMMUNITY APPRECIATES THEIR HARD WORK.

The raffle included 2 60-minute massages from Integrative energy bodywork, 2 40oz Tru Flask bottles with our logo laser etched in them, & a Natural restorations hat.
