Day AFter Easter Lower Salt River Land & WAter Cleanup

On Monday, April 6th, 2026, we hosted a Day After Easter Lower Salt River Land & Water Cleanup on the Tonto National Forest, staging at Phon D Sutton Recreation Area.

71 volunteers, including 1 youth volunteer, helped us remove 900 pounds (.45 tons) of trash & invasive stinknet & cockleburs from the Lower Salt River. Thank you to everyone who helped us make a positive impact on the river!

Volunteers spent the morning with us exploring the riverbanks & trails along the Lower Salt River at multiple recreation sites, removing scattered trash along the way.

Volunteers also helped in a major way by pulling & bagging invasive stinknet & cockleburs that destroy biodiversity & increase fire hazards. It was awesome to see so many bags of stinknet leave the river!

This event is also possible due to support from our Sponsors: AC Infinity, Arizona Wholesale Growers, AZ 4Runner Outsiders, Arizona Toy Pros, Arizona Plasma, Beer Barn, Desert Monsters Tours, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, Illuminated Funds Group, No Snow Standup Paddleboards, Resolution Copper, Salt River Project, State 48 Overland, Stellar Adventures, Victory 4x4, Visit Mesa, Wild West Off-Road Recovery, & Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative.
